Many beautiful older homes with great features like heart of pine wood sit in crumbling older areas. One growing investment is to MOVE the house to a hot, new area and cash in.

A 1,000 sq ft wooden house costs under $20k to move, and often the price includes a free foundation. Then you fix it up and flip it for a nice profit.

They say from a materials standpoint, some of these older 1920s era homes are like cars: their "parts" (heart-of-pine floors) are worth more separately than the house as a whole. That's assuming we're talking about an older, run-down house that sits in a declining neighborhood.

I've seen this done. it is remarkable. They actually just had a house on the news that said it is for free as long as someone is going to pay to have it moved and has the land to move it to. A great way to keep a piece of history.

Wow, I have never heard of this. Is this something that people do on a regular basis? THis is the first time I've ever heard of moving an older house. But the idea is different. I like it!

A house that was in a now commercial area was moved to a location just a few streets down from us. It seemed to work great for the new owners.
