Here's an Idea, long term game, until someone gets to 1,000,000 e$ with 10,000e$ to start. The catch is you can only earn e$ thru investing. Top prize is 1,000,000 e$, if Ben gives his blessing. Anyone can enter anytime, they rest just have a head start, that's all.
The only problem I forsee is how to create a separate account or area for this Challenge. |

| I would take part but having multiple accounts can be confusing, and so will this competition as you said, people could have a VERY long start and other who just started which isnt fair. Hope you find a way. |

| i would love to try this, but would definitely need more than 5000 to start with, like 10-20 thousand would be ideal. |

Read the first post. 10K e$ to start. You can only gain from your investments, no other source of income allowed. If you lose the whole 10K, then your out of the game. Unless you create a new Username. I have not seen multiple ID's here, but i'm not suggesting it no recomend it. Thou I think Hendrik is a second ID.
So Velt, your actual net worth would be about half if you subtract the income from posting and any profit from that amount. The rules will be set once we get an OK from Ben. |

I think the contest idea is great, but I'm also thinking it's going to require some coding to be done. I'm not sure if / when that could be done.
I have been toying with some ideas on how to support multiple accounts. I can have more than one e*trade account, why not here? And that would include being able to designate an account as a "retirement" account, just to add to the realism of the simulator. A retirement account would be completely self-contained, once you put money in you can't take it out until you retire.
The contest rules could be supported that way too, I think. The maximum deposit limit could be $10K, the transfer in/out bit would be turned off... I think it would work.
But not without some coding.
You could do the contest without coding support, but it would be more on the honor system. |

| I think it could be very easy. Just make a new acount only for the million e$ contest, for example mine could be t-bag-mil. Then anyone who posts with that account will be eliminated. Watch the rankings and vola insta-contest. We could even post links to our million e$ acount ranks in our sigs like Vetelmo does for the monthly challenge. |

If Dave can't fnd another way this can happen, I guess that's all we can do. Dave is there a way to sort for the participants in this game, like in the rankings?
Ben, can you put up the prize money, or will you let the winner keep his winnings? |

I have another account where I don't post and only trade, with the goal being to see how quickly I can get to 100,000 e$ (having started at 5,000). I returned about 7% last month and the same so far this month... I trade volatility directly, so there can be some pretty big price swings in a couple minutes. I think if I put enough time into it, I could do 25% each month. We shall see.
Why not just make a new name, let everyone know what it is and let the games begin? |

I just set up a game for us at Virtualstockexchange.com. If you want to play simply go there and enter $10Kto$1mil in the Game ID search window. Type it in exactly as I listed it. I won't be monitoring this game too closely but it is all setup for anyone that wants to play. I figured the quickest way to a $million was by allowing penny dawgs so the minimum price is .50. Once you are registered the password is e$$$$$$....that's e from eInvesting.....and 6 $$$$$$....like a million. Have fun! If yawnto. |

Good luck to ya! I found that site just yesterday. Purty kewel trade sim cause they let you use limits, stops, margin, shorting. The only thing I see that maybe I don't like is that when you put in an open order there is no way to cancel it! But maybe that's just because the mawkets are closed. I already put in a limit buy on a stock but I have no idea how to find that open order to change it if necessary. I'll have to check it on Mon when da mawkets are open. BTW, that 100% maximum trading volume rule means that if somebody wants to get jiggy with a low volume fast moving stock that move 20% on a volume of 12000 shares for the entire day they will only be able to buy a maximum of the number of shares traded at the time they enter their order. That's a great feature and it should help eliminate cheaters. I decided to make it a cash game too so you won't be able to buy stock on margin....but you can chort. See ya at $0. |
