Grim was fined for that response. Thats the thing with opinions...it can get out of hand easily. Hopefully with Grim in posting jail things can calm down.

Otherwise banned from 2 forums in 2 weeks must be some kind of record.

Well, at least a few members PM'd requesting I stay and, even not to let that certain unmentionable character win. So, I will try to rise from the ashes and start anew. Although I still feel his punishment was trite by comparison to the numerous events of the past, maybe this board will be much cleaner and civil with him in his cage now. Cool

Just to exhaust this issue somewhat, I would like to remind people life is about choices, everything we do is exactly that, a choice. You can choose to invest (or gamble) in that penny stock, you choose whether or not to fight with your significant other, you choose whether or not to be in a good mood or bad. When someone posts something you disagree with you choose to let it affect you. One huge advantage to online is people get to say things that a lot of the time they would not dare in normal conversation. It does not excuse the behaviour but for a lot of people they need to be the center of attention. Look around your work place or at school. You can see those who need the attention ( sometimes with positive energy and sometimes with negative). Just remember you choose to fight when someone offends you. And yes I can be accused of being a "typical Canadian" sitting on the fence! My suggestion is don't respond when someone offends you, they'll figure it out and if they get ignored then they move on. Don't waste you energy, I think this issue goes beyond any one person who people find annoying or offensive.

I find your observation much like utopia, everyone wishes it were so but, it isn't.

As you mentioned the workplace, managers have to attend employee relations classes to develop skills to handle such matters and in the workplace as in schools ignoring such individuals has not worked, in fact it has proved brutally fatal in many cases and in the least morale drops to the gutter and the company/school finds itself falling into lower production and or skills development. Proactive approaches through mandatory therapy and or jailtime/decision making leaves appear to work better than ignoring and trying to wish it away like a small child who can't do anything about the situation which absolutely does not work but, merely empowers and emboldens would be criminals/bullys. Neutral

It should and should have a long time ago. You took a big risk of losing active members over having someone be able to make personal attacks. I noticed your trying to get people to post about stocks, they did before but your buddy Grim made it clear that everyone else an idiot except for him. I wonder sometimes if you two are related somehow, lol. It is your site and you make the choices of ignoring the problem or putting your foot down. Too bad you lost quite a few people already.
