As a newbie to market and to this board I think we should get e$ for all post because a newbie such as myself just learning, isn't going to have the nerve or the knowledge to post on serious topics yet. As we "play" and gain knowledge our courage builds to speak in the more learned areas.

I agree with you Katibelle, we need more participation by all our members and your point is well made. Very Happy

I think katibelle is right as well. I also see the need for a smaller amount to be paid though something like $25 I think would be good as I believe we also would like the e$ to get real value and it will never do that if it is too easy to get. Wink

I think that posting in the non-investing forum should not reward someone as much as posting in an investing related topic. That said, I do see what Katibelle is talking about - getting no e$ payout here does limit new people from building their portfolio size, and probably leads to more repetitious, uninteresting questions in the investing threads from people just looking for e$. Maybe 25-50 e$ per post in this section wouldn't be a bad thing...

Additionally: Kati - you seem like you're getting involved here and want to learn, and thats great. So I have an offer for you. Pick a stock from the following list, and post your analysis of it. Nothing fancy is needed, just go over things like current earnings, future growth, some balance sheet stuff and whether you would buy it now. If you make a good effort, I'll make a nice donation to the Kati's portfolio fund.

Choices: Apple (AAPL), Microsoft (MSFT), Valero (VLO), Tiffany (TIF), UnitedHealth (UNH), Wrigley (WWY), General Motors (GM).

I'm working on some code that will allow varying payouts per forum, the standard code as installed does not provide that feature. I hope to have it done soon, but no promises.

If it's possible, maybe you can make it so the newer folks earn more money in the non-investing forum than someone like myself. That would probably be a lot harder to accomplish in the code but I think that might be a good solution. Acutally it doesn't have to be the new people just those with smaller portfolio values. Thats what I meant. Wink

oh........................
My first almost, kind of, challenge.

Well I pick UNH.

It held steady for a while and then dropped IMHO due to bad publicity with the scandle. The scandle will blow over and it will rise again.
This a good solid company and they have over 27%(number one position) alone of enrollments for the new Medicare Part D plan (partially due to the connection with AARP). Keep in mind there about 40 companies offering Med D.Having over 1/4 of that business alone is a huge thing.
They are top dog in a government program that isn't going away and caters to our ever aging population. We as a nation are not getting younger. We are living longer and will require those expensive maintenance drugs.

I don't know how far it will go down before we see it rise again. I don't know how to determine that yet. I don't have figures to give you. Only commentary. Sorry; hope I did well.
