I have a change jar where I put all my change at the end of the day. It adds up and then I put it in my savings account for a rainy day.

I second the change jar, you would be surprised how much you can save. I am about to quit smoking, and plan to put the money I spend in cigarettes each day (about $10 a day between me and DH) in that jar also. Should add up pretty quickly.

ING! I signed up and got a $25 bonus. Now I am signing up my DH and 2 kids to get $25 for each of them plus $10 for each back to me once they have signed up.

I'm going to close DH's account after a couple months and add the $25 to my account. Then each month I will auto deposit $25. I'm not going to tell him about it until we are ready for vacation then I can surprise him.

We have another savings account I auto deposit each pay a certain amount. every time we get raises I increase my amount.

We need to rebuild. I was laid off for 8 mths and had to use savings money.

Thanks for the ideas. I love the ING idea. I love how you can't access your money for a coupoe of days- it cuts down on impulse buys.

I do this also. The great thing is that the Commerce Bank in the Northeast has a Penny Arcade machine that will let you count coins for free. No need to pay CoinStar 8.9% just to count your money!

here's a money saving tip that is often missed by intelligent thinking individuals. i missed this one for many many years. don't make the same mistake i made.

try learning how to eat properly and exercise correctly at DRMIRKIN.COM.

when you think for a moment it makes no long-term sense to save money or to learn how to invest correctly if you are ignorant or complacent about maintaining you personal health.

one public example that you may be familiar with or you may know someone that can tell you about it occurred on the television show THE BIGGEST LOSER. (tv show where people try to lose weight)

one guy had (sounds like azma) and allergies and through learning how to exercise correctly and learning how to eat correctly was able to tell his spouse these health problems are all gone. thus saving the medication and doctors visit costs.

if you have foot, leg, knee, back, high blood pressure, certain types of diabetes or the 2 items mentioned above just to name a few you may want to give careful consideration to rethinking your priorities in this life.

i've come to the current opinion that a person BODY SHAPE and HEALTH is the sum total of their own personal decisions on a moment to moment basis.

of course there are exceptions to this opinion. but lets not kid ourselves these exceptions are in reality rare.

saving money will be a great side benefit. these savings will not be small over the long-term.

the simple key here is to not make the changes for yourself. think of your children or grand children or your mate. picture them without you in the picture permanantly. make the changes for them not all at once but over time.

i have no affiliation with DRMIRKIN.COM

I also pay with bills only and save the pennies but I have another saving plan aswell. Every time (for instance) I buy Coca-Cola from the store I put $1 in a jar. You can change the Coke there, it might aswell be every time you watch the news on the TV. And you can change the amount of money saved every time aswell.

But don't start to avoid viewing news on the TV because of that. Wink

try GABE MIRKIN in google. it will get you there.

otherwise: www.drmirkin.com

the guy is really compelling talent in my humble opinion like jim carrey in the movies. an excess of talant that needs the proper venue in order for the talant to be put to its best use.

I don't have much change. I use my discover card to pay for everything. It pays you back! I pay my credit card off every month.... that's the key!

A thing that I totally forgot!! Idea

Every time I finish reading a book I put aside some money. The fatter the book, the more money I put aside. Very Happy Lets say about a buck for 50 pages. If you read less you can enlarge the amount of money saved by each page.

Save money automatically by having it come right out of your check so you will not as easily spend it. Direct deposit is great $25 out of your paycheck you will not even notice it. I put the $25 into a separate bank account and did not get the debit card.
