It has been pointed out that we're in February now, and the portfolio screen is still reporting your "January" portfolio return. The date is currently hard-coded in the text, and will be fixed shortly. Thanks.

Thanks for the update.

I dont understand how portfolio return is calculated. Which data to use to calculate portfolio return: % figure on manage your portfolio page or figure at bottom on trade history.

There are 3 numbers.

I believe that the trade history number is based on closed positions only.

The number displayed on the memberlist and on the top of the portfolio page is updated on an hourly basis while the market is open, and is (supposed to be) based on your return since the beginning of the month. There are some known issues with the calculation math that have been discussed. Frequently. Smile

The number on the bottom of the portfolio page is for all open positions without regard to time.

So the odds are you will see 3 different numbers in each of those places.

I don't know why it would show -100% for the month. That probably doesn't make sense.

Something happened and it took a snapshot for the start of the month at -100%.

Then the next month right away he showed and increase of 128% so I went in and changed the numbers to go off his end of month number.

Not sure what happened.

Wow, your a busy little beaver! Quite a few trades in your history!

One thing that may be throwing you off is that it does say 0.27% overall for the trade history, but some of your holdings we're purchased in January and then sold in February.

On feb 1st we reset to being a 0% again so you may have been up 5% in a stock and then on the first it got set to 0 and then lost 1%. Your trade history would show +4% but for the monthly competition you would be down 1%.

I think thats where the discrepency is.

A nice little touch I've noticed is that the color of this month's return and last month's return are now separate. It used to be both were either black or red, but I think its a nice touch that they are now independent of each other. Just want to let our programmers know things like that are appreciated. Smile

Yeah, I finally noticed that when I had a portfolio in the black last month that was in the red this month... and both numbers were red. Wink
