Just wondering how everybody picks their different stocks? if there is a certain method that everyone uses, or is it just read up and go by that?

This might be a bad idea or good one since im currently first in the active rankings. When I chose my stocks i look around at what people are buying. For example i live on a college campus (NCSU) I asked the computer geeks in my dorm what kind of processors they were using, almost all of them(including myself) use AMD processors(AMD) instead of intel so i bought AMD.(This stock has boomed since i bought is) A lot of the new cars here in Raleigh are Nissan Altima's so got a little of Nissan's Stock(NSANY). Some of my picks were researched but for most i just looked around at what was making it in the consumer market. This probably isnt the most secure way of doing it but seems to have kept me in the black so far.

It's a combination of what you like and know and doing research on the company. Biggest mistake as far as real money investing is to be in a hurry and not know how the market operates.

Amen to that. Patience, patience, and more patience. I know someone who is probably kicking themself right now because they were quick to switch stocks and completely ignored the really intriguing stock they were tracking. This person - you might know him - keeps saying he will sell when his current holding is up and the one he is tracking is down. Hasn't happened yet... Confused Razz

I pick 'em by what I read in the news and what I see around me and the comparison I make between the two.
