I think my husband and I have an attitude similar to Mr. Knights. We have no intention of paying for their entire education. We are going to encourage them to take a year or two before college to work or go into the ROTC program. Then we will match dollar for dollar what they contribute to their education. We think they will make better choices and take their studies much more seriously if they are responsible for paying for a significant portion of their education.

Ms Sumner- You are absolutely correct. I have two in college (now), and though I gave them a good start, they are working and paying a great deal of it themselves. You'd be amazed at how sharp the average american young person is......when they're spending their OWN money. One is a housekeeper for a local hotel, and the other a dishwasher at a restaurant. Neither is making a killing....but boy are they getting university level educations in cash flow, taxes, and budgeting Wink

The good news is...they're doing just fine. Smile The better news is...they ain't thtupid, and we actually do have a pretty sharp "next generation" coming up the ladder (contrary to the average evening news reports Wink ) I like to believe we're leaving this world in good hands.

Dennis
