I was wondering if more features will be available in the sim? Like being able to put limit orders. Right now the only option is market orders, and in a volitile market, a few pennys or mins can make a big difference.
If you want it to a real simulator, it should have those features. If not it's like buying mutual funds.
What do you guy's think? |

| Well I think it would be a nice addition. But if we don't have it that is ok too. I think Ben and the admin do a fine job running this site smoothly. And don't forget that no one has limits on this site, so it is the same for us all. |

Its not like buying mutual funds, thats an overexaggeration. Mutual funds are only traded at one time of the day. If the delay worries you (like it did for me) then you should rest easy if you know the real-time price, which you can get from AOL or Yahoo Finance. There is a post where Dave Rathbun explains it, but its actually not that bad. A little quirky maybe, but not very important.
Limit orders would be nice, but remember this site is still developing and growing quite quickly. Patience, young grasshopper. |

It true, we're not running at the most optimal for day traders and those doing limits, shorts and the like. We would like to see most of these features at some point.
We don't sell ourselves short however. In the meantime the current features are great for beginners, the experienced trying out new sectors or techniques and hey, way more fun than a stock alert email. |

Screw the day traders, dividends are more important!!!
And although the sim isn't complete yet, something interesting is always going on around here.
I can just imagine the day when all this stuff is added, it gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling inside. |

| I can not wait for when we can short stocks!!! It seems that anything I invest in goes down. I figure it should be a great fit for me. |

Well you've only been doing this for a month or two, so don't jump to conclusions. Plus, you've been using value investing, so that might not give you immediate results. |

Yes, most of us know that Mutual Funds are only traded once a day, and those who didn't know that, should know by now. It's just painfully slow right now to wait 20 mins before an order get processed. I dont mean to bash the system nor the admin. I just wanted suggest or request, what would make this SIM a lot better. I'm not asking for it to happen overnight, "Rome was not built in a day".
Sorry if I offended anyone, but I meant no disrespect, just a possbile topic for seriuos discussion. |

It would definetly be great for day traders. The simple answer is, once we have real-time quotes, we can have real-time trading. |

If you look at the real-time price, which you can get on AOL or Yahoo Finance, that is the price you will get through the system. Trust me, its not as bad as it sounds. I used to be like wth sometimes, but once you think about the logic, its actually not that bad. Trust me. |

| Wouldn't it be very expensive to have real time quotes? I heard that to use the delayed quotes even, it costs something like $300/month. |

I don't know what exactly Ben uses, but I do know that quotes (both delayed and real-time) are available for free on AOL Finance and Yahoo Finance, among many others. I know of nowhere which provides free streaming real-time quotes, but maybe thats for the better. I don't know if I would move between 9:30 and 4:00 if I had that. |

| There are many free real-time quote sources out there. The reason we use Yahoo is they have an API that can be called from a php program. If there were any free real-time quote servers that could be used the same way we could switch. |
