| What are the advantages of having gmail? Any reason for me to switch from hotmail? |

I personaly like gmail much better than hotmail and yahoo. The feel is better the look is better. Gmail makes it so you can search your emails and find the one you are looking for. I also find it easier in gmail to add filters for the incoming emails that they can go into their own folders without me having to sort them manualy. The biggest plus to gmail at the moment for me is the lack of junk emails. I get about 5 junk emails a month. In my yahoo account I get 5 an hour in my inbox. (and yes I have the spam filter on, it just does not work) Not sure what else to put down other than try it out. If you do not like it, so be it.
One last thing. Googletalk (google im client) will let you know when you get new emails in your gmail account. So pm me if you want to try gmail or email myjunkaccount@gmail.com |

I'm curious... how many email addresses do you (nobody in particular, just a generic "you") have already? Do we really need one more? If you get a domain name (less than $10 a year in most cases) you can get an extremely cheap host (less than $5 a month) and have unlimited emails at your own domain. Yes, google is free. But hosting your own email means no ads.
I own or manage several different web sites. I probably have nearly a hundred email addresses, many of which I don't check because they're spam magnets. I don't think I need another.
I'm not trying to convince people not to take conbrio up on their offer... I'm just wondering about the reasons why. Thoughts? |

| I have a "real" gmail addy that I only give out to friends and classmates. I have a junk mail account that I use to register promotions, contests, and forums. This account gets a lot of junk mail. I went to gmail because my yahoo account would not filter out the spam. |

| I wanted one for a junk e-mail account. I use hotmail for all of my important e-mail and I have a yahoo e-mail because I wanted to sign up for geocities. |
