Yay! I just turned 21! Anyone have any favorite mixed drinks they can tell me how to make? I am a complete idiot, I never participated in underage drinking so have no clue how to start. How about those special drink glasses, worth getting them?

If you can avoid vices like drinking and smoking, and you add up how much you spend on them, you will realize that you will probably be happier using that money somewhere else. I'm not saying never have fun or "live it up" sometimes, but exercise moderation.

Drinking is bad and alcohol tastes nasty so I do not see why you would want to start.

Thanks for the welcomes! I am putting most of my money in investing. I also don't think that drinking has to be a vice, that's why I waited until now before making the choice. I am familiar with the pitfalls of addiction and have no interest in wasting my life. I'm not interested in overdoing it, I'm only interested in tasty mixed drinks. It's good to know there are others who don't drink, though, I was at a party yesterday and chose not to drink and was given crap from my friends.

I found some drink recipes here, www.thebar.com, any drinkers wanna tell me if it's any good?

Need we encourage him? Years from now he will be living on the streets, homeless and unemployed, and will reflect back on his life to realize the downward spiral started with this one post on eInvesting... then he will probably get a lawyer and sue. Laughing

Keep it up. Smile I didn't have my first alcohol until I was 24. I've been drunk once in my life (bachelor party, it's an essential part of the ritual to get absolutely trashed so all of your friends can make fun of you). There's nothing wrong with not drinking.

Take the money you would have spent on booze and invest it. When you're old and still look 10 years younger than your age because of your healthy lifestyle you'll have the retirement funds to actually enjoy your retirement years. Cool

I am not planning on spending bunches of money on booze. That's the whole reason I want to learn how to mix my own drinks, so I don't have to spend money on bars and clubs, which I don't enjoy anyway. I'm a house party kind of person, and having a couple drinks every few weeks is not going to be a large expense, as long as I have my own supply. I'm more interested in being a connoiseur than just pounding them back. I think I'll just stick to the recipes on www.thebar.com, since it looks pretty classy and the materials they use are high quality.

Um drinking.. i could help out in this subject.. Try one jager bomb(sometimes called california carbomb) Very good. Try a cosmopolitan, marguritta, lemon drops, long island ice tea(use caution on this one), jello shots(jello and vodka), butterynipples, cherrybomb, rum and coke, three wisemen, hypnotic, jack and ginger, and a mudslide.. Just don't drink to much.. And go out once in awhile see how much you spend and see how you feel the next day then decide to invest the money you wasted to have a good time and feel like crap or invest it..

We should get into the hard drugs, sex addiction, workaholism, and eating disorders.

www.thebar.com is not my site. In fact, after you accused me of advertising I looked carefully at the site and realized it's run by Diageo. If I were Diageo, I wouldn't need advice on how to handle my finances.
