Come one come all to the Biggest e$ prize contest on the site!!!
We are not all day traders here, nor is this site intended to only be for day traders. Conservative investors be heard!
The Deal:
Pick a stock that you believe will go up in value over 1 year. The one with the biggest % gain will win 1,000,000 e$!!!
-The stocks current value must be at least $20.
-Your pick must be in by January 1st, 2006.
You can join in later than the first but you'll play against everyone else that joins late for a 500,000 e$ prize. The latest you can join is 6/1/06. The late crew contest will end the same as the early crew: 12/31/06.

How about instead of a minimum stock price (here you say $20) why not make it a minimum market cap? That would have the same purpose of disallowing penny stocks, while opening up more companies to pick from. As always, I contend that share price is an irrelevant measure for valuing a company by itself. You need to look at in the context of what you are buying and what you will get.
Minimum market cap somewhere in the $100-250 million range? How about it? |

So far we have only 6 players in the year long competition (Listed below). Not bad odds for a Cool Mil! I know some of you are waiting till the last minute to have the best chance.

As far as changing the way we do this I think we should keep it as is since people are in already. Also, making a minimum market cap works, but for those beginner investors going with the stock value will be easier for them to figure out (and hopefully will get more involved).
I'm separating the Grimreaper Casino to another thread. Look for it in the e$ Incentives section. |

| Yes, I have it in an excel doc and I'll paste it over so everyone can see it. So far we do not have any duplicate stock picks. |

Lets start a separate contest for shorting. This contest will be the rosey picture.
We can do a month long short or whatever you'd like. I never play the "Don't Pass Line" in craps so I'm really not that familiar with it.
If you want you can start a contest and set the parameters and I'll back it with e$. I think a lot of us would do well with a shorting education. |

I posted a "never mind" post just before yours.
The thing about shorting is (and I realized after I made my post) you don't typically short for a long term period. You short based on market conditions and immediate trends. And the best you can possibly hope for with a short is a 100% gain. With a long buy you can get well over 100%, assuming you back the right horse.
Short at $20, go to $0, you make 100%. Long at $20, go to $60, make 200%.
And as I already said, shorting is not for long term holdings, really. So I withdrew my suggestion and made my pick. |
