We already have a long term contest, the people who do well over time will slowly but surely increase the amount of e$ they have accumulated, I would join in on a game where you take Cramer's picks each Fri and see who does best with those, the problem is that when Cramer says something about a stock all of the idiots usually listen, therefore, in most cases the move that the stock makes in the next few trading days is a direct result of Cramer's call, look at GLW the other day for instance, it closed at like 21.25 on Tue I think, he said you should buy it hand over fist on Mad Money that night, as a result the idiots drove it through 22.00 that very same evening, so I have no idea where you would set a starting point for each stock that Cramer mentions in after hours trading, do you give the closing price on that Fri even though the new price the next Mon might be 5% higher, just because idiots listen to Cramer? or do you get the opening price the following Mon? I think we should also be given the chance to call a short entry price on any of Cramer's crap to be fair to those who understand what a true idiot Cramer is, there is a much better chance that you will make money by going exactly opposite of what Cramer says, that's just my opinion but I can also prove it, look at where the idiots who paid 22.00 for GLW in after hours trading the other day are at right now for instance. All these sound like great ideas, just dont want ben to get so overwhelmed (sp) that he gets worn out or something.

When we were looking at starting price I was thinking about closing price of the day he mentioned so fridays close and then it would or could run till next fridays close. Cause that seems to be about how long to get the pump and dumps out of it and then let the stock rise or fall for its real reasons.

But I really like the other ideas also.

For the Cramer Contest it sounds like a good experiment to see how many people would have lost e$ in a week.

Ok, so two contests.

-The Friday Cramer Stock Pick Contest

and

-The Million e$ Long Term Stock Pick Contest

These are good. Cool

Anyone who is really into Shorts (Not the summer kind) can develop and run a weekly contest of just shorting if they want. (I'll Supply the e$)

Here is how that contest (you get the Fri closing price) would work, just so you can see the results before they actually happen, once you see what will happen then you can decide whether or not it makes sense to even bother with it, but here is how the first week's competition will go:

Cramer will say to buy:

Stock A: It closes AH trading up 5%
Stock B: It closes AH trading up 3%
Stock C: It closes AH trading up 12%

75% of all contestants will choose stock C, watch! Wink

Yeah you got me there. Hmmm Maybe we make it tougher by having to guess how many points? It also doesnt have to be which one is up can be guess the tanker stock also? just a thought
but yeah your probably right on that. Thats why I was saying week long hmm, maybe I better do some more homework on that idea.

How about this idea?, we open up a Casino where you can wager all or any of your e$ each week and you will receive odds based on the degree of difficulty of the game, for instance, we could post a list of 5 stocks and their last after hours trading price from Fri, we could have a seperate game for the stock that will gain the most and one for the stock that will lose the most by the following Fri's regular hours close, you could wager as much of your e$ as you want and receive 5 times that amount if you pick the stock that performed the best/worst, of course if you pick any of the other 4 you will lose the amount you bet to the house, here's a trial run for just todays trading, which of these 5 will gain the most (%-wise) from yesterday's last AH trading price to the close today? You get 5/1 on yer e$ if you guess the correct one.

NMGC 6.89
ESLR 11.63
SIRI 7.17
DNDN 5.45
GTE 3.74

I'll go with ESLR for 1 e$ Very Happy

We could also have other games at the same board, sports betting, stock games, challenges among current community members who want to go head to head against each other, etc. etc., everyone could bring their own ideas about what to play, whata yuns guys think?

Sounds like fun Grim, however I think it would be difficult (For me anyway) to be the odds maker.

How about the Grimreaper e$ Casino!?

I would have to tax you heavily though at like 90%. Laughing

I'll be happy to bring some games to da casino each week and set the odds on the games I bring, regretfully I wouldn't have time to monitor who made what picks, who won, what awards need to be made, etc. etc., I barely have time to run the Weekly Stock Picker's challenge Sad but if you are willing to tackle record keeping we can get started this weekend, jis lemme know!

I was going to make a new post about this suggestion but I figure this one is close enough to being on topic. Rather than having another game about some form of investment, how about trying to open up people's vocabularies and find out how eloquent they are/can be.

How about having a "special" word that if used in a post you recieve a bonus amount of $e (and once used changes to a new word). Not normal everyday useage words, but weirder ones that people have either stopped using or just aren't used as much. ie, instead of using Fun, you could use Buffoonery or Jesting. Not necessarily words that nobody knows of, but just ones that have been forgotten
