I was spending hours each night researching stock fundamentals and checking charts before going online the next morning to place my orders on etrade, only to break even at the end of each week.
It's one thing to play a game against the computer and another getting out there and placing real stock orders. It reminds me of when I used to play a lot of warcraft and age of mythology back in my days. It wasn't until I got online and started chatting and playing with other people that I begin to find out the tricks others would use to get ahead or to deceive you. And guess what? There are people like this in the stock market.
For those of you who feel confident using the simulator here and/or want to do some serious day trading I suggest that the next thing you do is hang around some experienced traders who are willing to chat with you. The chatroom I'm on now I just basically follow the calls they make for when to buy and sell. I do get to chat with the others and ask their opinion on other stocks I'm interested in, some will even buy them. I've been doing good, actually much better than how I was doing on my own (I'd like to say I've been doing great, but that'll have to wait until I first can afford buying a maybach to prove it) King
edit chatroom link has changed, it's now updated

There is 2 days free trial and then I paid $50 for the first week. Since I made much more than that I decided to continue in the chatroom.
I believe the recommended 26k in your brokerage account is because of the "pattern day trader" sec rule (?) this is not a requirement for being in the chatroom.
Secrets: when buying stocks look for these market makers. See if they're buying or selling, study what tactics they're using.
private: GSCO PRUS SLKC NITE
public: ISLD TNTO
institutions: INCA BTRD
There are other chatrooms you might want to visit and are free. If you're familiar with mIRC check out Othernet, or try Woodie's CCI Club on HotComm. It's kind of difficult to get noticed there and find anyone that is willing to help you, but it may give you an idea if this is something you migh be interested in.
edit: here's the link to the current chatroom transcripts
and here's a snapshot of the transactions i made today
