How much have you paid recently for a gallon of gas?

Yesterday I spent $2.75, but I've seen it higher.

Oh, I'm in Chicago. You should say where your at to see the differences.

Lucky you...

In Estonia the price of a gallon of gas has gone up to $ 4,542. And yes I calculated it correctly. That is just sick....and the price will continue to rise "thanks" to the EU taxes and the oil companies that sell gas here.

Paid 2.20 yesterday in California. I think it's going to go up soon though. $3 gas here wouldn't surprise me.

What makes me mad is that diesel is now more expensive than premium gasoline. Go figure. I traded in my old truck (gas hog) and got a diesel. Mileage has definitely improved, but cost may net out the same.

Paid $2.59 for diesel on the last fillup. Regular gas was $2.05 at the same station.

I'm not that old, but I remember when gas would go under $1.00/gal during the winter... it wasn't really that long ago.
I always feel the need to point out that it isn't just people in bigger cars who get bad mileage, nor does being in a big car automatically mean your mileage is bad. Remember that gas consumption is a function of horsepower (I believe the relationship is cubic). A car with more horsepower uses more gas, and more horsepower comes from bigger engines. The reason bigger cars get bad mileage is due to the fact that they have large engines designed to move them. Mileage is also heavily dependent on driving style, if you floor it (and use your engine's peak horsepower) you will get bad mileage, because the EPA estimates don't assume that kind of driving.
My mom always complains about the awful environmental destroyers who drive Hummers, but she loves my neighbors, who always have the newest Mercedes. Multiple years of pointing out that getting 9 mpg in an SL 65 is no different than getting 9 in an H2 has fallen on deaf ears, although I must say that the SL is soooooo hot.

Study horse power needed increases as the weight (both vehicular and foot) increases thus increasing gasoline needed to move said vehicle. E=MC2 Shocked
