They're all expired options. Last Friday was option expiration day, and there are several folks with contracts that expired. The Yahoo quote server doesn't return the stock symbol for expired options, resulting in a blank and invalid quote data set. The code has been fixed and I'm testing now. It should be online for the trading session tomorrow. |

While I was at it, I added code to the hourly portfolio update that will automatically close expired option positions. I did some preliminary testing tonight, but this is by no means a final change. If you check your portfolio and find that positions are being closed improperly, post your specific information here, or send a PM to this account and I will look into it.
Only the hourly portfolio update script will do this. If you open your portfolio trading screen and you have expired options, the will show up with a quote value of zero. Don't close them yourself or you will get charged a commission.  The hourly update script will simply "expire" the option, move it into your trade history screen, and it will not charge you a commission to close the position.
Note that during testing tonight that all expired options were sold as of today (July 18, 2005) rather than on the day they may have actually expired. Going forward, options should be closed on the Monday following the option expiration day (3rd Friday of each month). |

So your August options are still on your "open" positions list, right? They didn't get closed? Only the July options were closed for you? The option symbol includes a code that says whether it's a CALL or PUT and the appropriate expiration month. For anyone interested the link is here. This information will be incorporated into the trading simulator at some point. |

Yepper, getting correct quotes on Aug options today, and don't worry, I'm not mad that you fell asleep at the trading simulator machine yesterday, today looks like a much better day to short anyway, next time you go out and party the night before please remember to put da machine on auto pilot if you need a little nappy, much appreciated!  |

Ahhhh, I stand corrected, I guess it is permanently on auto pilot, just like da mawkets themselves, be careful with yer drinks when you are sitting next to the trading simulator, you remember the Three Mile Island near disaster perhaps? that was caused by a technician who spilled a coke on the control panel  |
