Congrats to MrInvestor for winning the active user $50 prize and Lukecadet for the inactive user $10 prize!

We have made some changes to the simulator to streamline it and make the competition a bit more fair for the casual investor.

Going forward:
All stock symbols with a . in them will be invalid.
You can no longer buy stocks that are priced below $2 per share.

This was done so that everyone will have a much better chance to compete trading basic stocks. Some penny stocks and options were giving users huge percentages they would not have earned in real life.

Everyone's portfolio was reset back to 0 in order to implement these changes. You should really be able to see how your doing against everyone else for the current months contest.

Ya gotta get in to win! The August competition is underway!

Is that $50 active user reward real muny?!! Very Happy if it is you had better give everyone else 3 months worth of posts to catch up with my 1 month's worth of posts, some of the members here may think I have something to say about everything in regards to the markets, but let the truth be known! I just like to hear myself tawk! Laughing

Thanks EIA! I think that when you get the bugs worked out of the system you will see a much larger influx of people who have a true interest in the markets, this trading format is already 1000% better than the other stock game I participate in, I just want to make sure it is set up well enough that the fokes I invite over don't end up kicking my butt in the monthly stock competitions Laughing most of the people I correspond with are already excellent traders, but some of em cheat even better than they trade! Mad we don't want that! hopefully you will take my advice and consider using buys and sells using limit orders only during regular hours trading, it will solve the problem of cheaters, and it is actually the best way to trade in real $$$ anyway, thanks!

Thumbs up for free money. This is almost as good as the 'sell free posters i got for free at the movies for $5/apiece on ebay' thing i've got going on right now. Very Happy

And hey...if there are any bugs this time we will work to fix them and they will not count as actual gains!

Any way to set up the new game so that we all can see exactly which stocks each player has in their portfolio? that way we can all learn from even the members who play but don't say Very Happy

I think part of the beauty of it is that you can keep it private. If you really want to remain anonomous you can do that here, but your really not getting the most out of the site and it just becomes another simulator.

At some point we were thinking of adding an option that will make your portfolio public for all to see (and maybe set that as the default).

Keep your eyes open though. I should be posting some changes to the game soon. Phase III is on it's way.

Or how about forcing you to donate $100 to see what the person is holding in stocks. Turn it into proprietary information.

I am seeing some errors of bad stocks coming through. Are you holding something that may have changed names or expired?

Someone had BTX and it changed names but I can't find anything on it to put in the new name.

Every time I try and get into my port by clicking on the "your portfolio" tab I get "is not recognized as a valid stock" Confused either the whole system is on da fritz or I am, if I am then I apologize for your inconvenience, I'll just take anudder swig of this here Jim Beam I'm havin fer lunch, I'll be in at my normally scheduled time to work the trading simulator machine, if I was you I'd fire the kid you hired for the day shift if he hasn't woken up yet, just my opinion of course Laughing

Something weird is going on as it is showing a bunch of stocks as blanks.

It's not the whole system just some portfolios.

I'll let you know what happens with the programmer (who isn't a college kid so it's a lot harder to get their time!).
